Hot Force! Hemlock Overlook Task Force
March 2001 Meeting Announcement

The first meeting of the Hot Force! Hemlock Overlook Task Force is scheduled for Monday, March 19, 2001 at 7:00 at Jim Bonhivert's house (7600 Dunquin Court in Glencairn). Most of member will be in attendance.

It has been proposed that everyone come to this first meeting with ideas of regarding the Task Force charter/mission and deliverables, which should include action plans for pursuing whatever needs are identified. There have been many ideas about what should be done and we should strive toward a common set of objectives to increase the effectiveness of our efforts.

So far, there is a strong apparent need to pursue the following:
  • A petition in the community expressing our thoughts about development at Hemlock. Harold Whalen has developed an excellent draft we can discuss.
  • Formal requests for the charter of the Park and any relevant plans that will give us insight into the strategic path they are on.
  • A means for communicating with the authorities on a regular basis.
  • An understanding of the process for influencing the outcome at the Park in terms of who needs what from us from within the government.
  • An overall action plan for achieving our goals.

For those of you who cannot make the opening meeting, please be sure to send your initial thoughts on this issue so we can incorporate your ideas on Monday night.

Going forward, an attempt will be made to set meeting dates far enough in advance to increase the prospects of full attendance.
